The world certainly does need better governance structures in order to address current economic and political problems. Over the last several years, I have begun focusing on concepts of Systems Theory Analysis and Systems Thinking as means by which to improve policymaking and policy performance. Much of my career has been spent in the energy and environmental fields. The U.S., in particular, must begin formulating a more careful process by which to make more informed policy choices around energy policy. I believe the concepts of Systems Analysis will help improve the policy making process.

There is a group on Linkedin that is dedicated to the discussion of Systems Analytical thinking and the general application to a range of topics.

Better world governance structures are essential in order to address the current economic and political problems that we are facing. I have begun conducting research on Systems Theory Analysis as a means by which to improve policymaking and performance.
There is a group on Linkedin dedicated to examining the principles of Systems Analysis thinking and the application to a broad spectrum of topics.

Thank you for sharing your Davos experiences and lessons learned with us. The issue of the world needing better governments has been on my mind a lot, as I've watched the government of the USA become more and more dysfunctional. Of course, the news media is helping this process by focusing on "who's winning" rather than "what do the people really need to know".

I was intrigued to read the Feb 4th press release and report from the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, which presented a road map to a sustainable world for the 9 billion people expected to be living on planet Earth by 2050. ( http://www.wbcsd.org/Plugins/DocSearch/details.... ) There is talk in that report about making governments work better too.

Perhaps the USA's CSR community can form a united, coordinated, socially responsible lobbying effort that transforms the business - government relationship in the US into one dedicated to the needs of every American not just of the rich and powerful.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the WBCSD's report and on the possibility of socially responsible American businesses banding together to help transform the US government. Given the anger out in America, I think this is an idea whose time has come!
