Friends. At the end of Blockchain Revolution, Alex Tapscott and I call for the creation of a new social contract. Technology is breaking down our the agreements that grew from the industrial age – about employment, economic opportunity, public discourse, the integrity of democracy and other profound issues. Over the last year I’ve been thinking about this and have worked with researcher Joan McCalla to get an initial draft on paper.

There is a glaring need for this; a new Social Contract. My observation of how current Social Media has totally changed the perspective of our young people, millennials in particular and soon the Gen Z, a solution must come that will show them that the world does not revolve around them and that there is a responsibility that comew with the privilege of using Social Media. There is increasing evidence as shown by the “walk out” of a large number of the audience before Vice President Pense’s Convocational Speech at Notre Dame University earlier this month. Evidence that modesty and chivalry along with repect have been seriouly eroded, if not totally disappeared. Of course, the Boomers and Gen Xers are also to blame for this lack because these values have not been taught. It has become a generational curse. Like all curses’ however, they can be eliminated or reversed.

Thank you for your leadership and the opportunity to contribute, I believe this quote is worthwhile to mention in the new social contract:
“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” (Edmund Burke)
Perhaps a modernization to “people” would be most appropriate given the times.
